No, I’m not writing a post philosophizing about the spiritual implications of maternity leave. I’m going on maternity leave myself! Our family is expecting a new baby, so I’ve scheduled this newsletter to post on the baby’s due date, just to alert loyal readers that things will be quiet around here for a while. I have lots of ideas and hopes for this writing project, but I’m not putting any particular timeframe on my return, since I don’t know how my recovery and adjustment will be. Until then, a couple of questions for readers:
What would you hope to see from Good News for New Moms in the future?
What thoughts or advice do you have for a soon-to-be mom of two?
Congratulations! I have no advice yet as I won't have my two until spring, but I'm praying for a safe and healthy delivery and a peaceful postpartum experience for you.
Non-practical thoughts on having two: It really is true what they say about having another child after your first — any fear about not loving them as much as your firstborn goes out the window when they are born. Your love only grows to expand them both. And seeing them have their own relationship together becomes so precious. (Those corney cliches come to life and might just make you cry — from postpartum hormones and/or joy.)
And practically, if you're into it: Baby-wearing in a wrap has saved my sanity (and probably the baby) with toddlers around.
